The Making of Horse Week

The purpose behind Horse Week.

In 2010 the Equine Network survey revealed a need to assist in the adoption of rescue horses that were flooding rescues in the 2009-2012 recession.  The Equine Network used that data to create A Home for Every Horse.  Since that time, the program has grown to be one of the largest horse rescue programs in the US, finding homes for thousands of horses.  In 2017 our survey identified the growth of rehabilitation programs centering around the horse, and we again created a successful program to bring attention to those needs: Hope in the Saddle.

In 2020 national surveys show people are spending more time with their animals than ever before, and that the interest in horses and all things equine is climbing steadily.  For many years, the horse industry has been considering a week-long national focus around the horse.  We have identified these two trends as critical drivers for the success of this program.
